HI! Thank you for taking the time to read my blog!  First off I want to say that I’m not a consistent writer and I may not be writing in this very often, but I’m sure the more comments I get from you lovely people the most inspired I will be to write!

And just as a warning, I do intend to be brutally honest about my thoughts and feeling about relgion. So if you’re a extremely relgious person, you will probably be offended by some of my content.  However, I want to make it clear that I only despise religion NOT religous people!  While people may think that what I say is disrespectful, I feel that my respect to other people is to be honest with then as long as it comes from a good place.

So, it’s hard to find a place to start with the whole atheism topic….but I guess I will begin with how I “became” and atheist.  I say “became” because while I was raised by Christian parents and as a child beleived in God and heaven and hell, even as a child I always had a strong skepticism towards it.  And I don’t think it is fair to label children as part of a relgion that they are not capable of understanding yet.

I honestly cannot think of a specific event that triggered my new found thinking from being a child “Christian” but I think it just slowly progressed from “OK, mom and dad tell me to think this so it must be true” to “Well, maybe its not real but we need it for people to be nice to each other.  Besides, no one ACTUALLY beleives it’s true, right?”  Most of my youth was spent with this mindset, as I never really openly questioned Christianity but I assumed everyone else must be thinking pretty much the same thing as I did.  To me, nothing from the Bible made sense.  It was just unbeleivable to me that God could hear everyone’s thoughts and prayers while controlling everything that happened and knowing everything that is going to happen in the future.  After all, how come I didn’t get that robot Barbie that I prayed for for Christmas? (It was because it didn’t exist) But where was God then?

I just realized this could be a really long and boring story….but basically, to sum it up I moved from skeptic to internally admitted atheist once I went to college to openly admitted atheist once I graduated.  There will surely be more blogs on all the things that triggered this in the future but I won’t bore you with all the details right now.

If you have any comments please leave them! I want to know what you think whether it’s postive or negative (just nothing hateful please!)  And if you want to share your atheism “moment” please do!
